Lunging: Which method suits your horse?
To get straight to the point: according to equine physiotherapist Gisella Bartels, there is no such thing as the perfect training aid or lunging method. At the Bartels Horse and Health Institute in Prinsenbeek, Gisella works on the physical development of sport horses through physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment and training management.
“The only good training aid is one that gently invites your horse to lower and stretch his head and neck forwards and downwards. In doing so, you encourage correct use of the body. That is what a training aid should do. And inviting is very different from forcing.”
