Belgian Driving Competition in Libramont Cancelled Due to Heat
SportThe Belgian driving competition in Libramont has been cancelled. Organisers announced that the event cannot go ahead after the Province of Luxembourg decided to cancel all competitions within the province because of the ongoing heatwave.
As a result of this decision, the event in Libramont will not take place. The cancellation applies to all scheduled classes and activities.
The cancellation is a setback for Belgian drivers because Libramont is hosting the Belgian Driving Championship later this year. That championship is scheduled from September 11 to 13 at the Libramont Exhibition grounds and is one of the highlights of the national season
Alternative Event in Linden
Drivers who still wish to compete have the option of entering the competition in Linden on 5 July. According to the organisers, entries remain open until Wednesday.
The measure is part of a series of precautions taken by the Province of Luxembourg to protect horses, competitors, volunteers and officials from the effects of the exceptionally high temperatures.
