Immediate Fine for Incorrect Influenza Vaccination Records in FEI HorseApp from 1 July
SportThe FEI Vaccination Module in the FEI HorseApp has been operational since the beginning of 2025. The system requires the horse’s owner, groom, trainer, or rider to enter the horse’s influenza vaccination history into the app before a veterinarian can record any new influenza vaccination. For the time being, this digital registration is required in addition to the correct completion of the horse’s passport.
From 1 July 2026, the FEI will begin enforcing these requirements more strictly. Incorrect or incomplete vaccination records may result in immediate fines.
Penalties
Riders and horse owners competing at FEI events are being strongly encouraged to ensure that all influenza vaccinations are correctly recorded in the FEI HorseApp. The FEI has increased its monitoring of the system, and from July 2026 penalties will be issued when vaccination records are not compliant.
Several cases have recently been reported where vaccination information was entered incorrectly. Without proper registration, a horse does not comply with the FEI Veterinary Regulations, which may lead to disciplinary measures.
From 1 July 2026, a fine of CHF 100 (approximately €110) will be imposed for each violation identified. The FEI requires that every influenza vaccination be entered into the FEI HorseApp by a veterinarian on the day the vaccination is administered, while the horse is present. Previously administered vaccinations must also be correctly recorded in the system.
Check Your Records Early
The Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) advises riders and owners to verify well before entering an international competition that all vaccination records in the FEI HorseApp are complete and accurate. Doing so can help avoid problems during veterinary inspections and document checks at FEI events.
