New FEI-Recognised Anti-Doping Course Launched for Grooms
The FEI and the International Grooms Association (IGA) have launched a new online anti-doping course: International Groom Clean (IGC). The e-learning programme has been developed specifically for grooms and addresses a clear need within the international equestrian community.
Research among grooms working at the highest level found that 80% had never received formal anti-doping education. Even among those who had, many felt their knowledge was not always sufficient.
Reducing the Risk
With the launch of International Groom Clean, the FEI and IGA aim to reduce those risks. Available through FEI Campus, the course provides practical and accessible guidance on Clean Sport protocols.
Participants who successfully complete the course receive an official certificate. To ensure their knowledge remains up to date, the certification must be renewed periodically.
The course is intended for both home grooms and competition grooms, regardless of discipline or level. Well-informed grooms not only gain greater confidence themselves, but also help strengthen the confidence of riders, owners and National Federations.
Free Membership Incentive
To encourage participation, the FEI will cover the cost of International Grooms Association membership for grooms who complete the course within two weeks of registering. This effectively makes the certification free of charge.
The FEI is also strongly encouraging all grooms travelling with horses to the FEI World Championships in Aachen to complete the course before the event.
The course is currently available in English, with French, Spanish and German versions to follow soon.
