FEI World Championship for Single Horses in Munich: All Horses ‘Fit to Compete’
Yesterday, all competitors arrived at the former Olympic equestrian venue in Munich. Today, the horses were presented at the horse inspection and all were accepted. The first important hurdle has therefore been cleared: in the Single Horse competition, a horse that does not pass the inspection automatically means the combination cannot compete.
In 1972, 54 years ago, the equestrian events of the Olympic Games were held at this very same Olympia-Reitanlage in Munich. From today, Munich provides the stage for 87 drivers and horses from around the world, who will compete not only for the individual title of 2026 World Champion, but also for the team World Championship title.
Two years ago, Switzerland’s Mario Gandolfo and his Freiberger mare Favela claimed the individual world title in Le Pin au Haras, France, while the French team celebrated World Championship gold on home soil. Mario and Favela are back again this year. Will they successfully defend their title, or will a new driver be crowned World Champion for the next two years?

Opening Ceremony
The 2026 FEI World Championship for Single Horses officially gets underway this evening at 6:30 p.m. with the opening ceremony, followed by a reception for the competitors.
Tomorrow, the first half of the field will begin their dressage tests at 9:00 a.m. The remaining competitors will start at the same time on Friday.
