
CAIO Kronenberg: The Competition Gets Underway
Sport CAI Kronenberg 2026Earlier today, the youth classes, 3* single horse class, pairs (horses), pairs (ponies), and four-in-hand pony teams took to the arena at the prestigious international driving event with Nations Cup competition in Kronenberg. This event not only hosts the Dutch Four-in-Hand Championships, but also serves as a qualifier for the World Cup circuit.
Horses
In the class of 52 competitors in the single horse class, France’s Tony Ecalle delivered the best performance of the day. He was the only driver to score just under 40 penalty points and received a perfect 10 for ‘Athlete’ from judge Hermann van den Bosch. The best Dutch result came from Cindy Benschop, who finished third, just behind Swiss driver Stefan Ulrich.
In the pairs (horses) class, another French driver set the standard. François Dutilloy was unanimously placed first by the judges, receiving a 10 from judge Freiberg for presentation and overall impression. Dutch driver Jelmer Chardon secured second place, trailing by just over six points. Italy’s Claudio Fumagalli finished third.
Ponies
Rodinde Rutjens currently leads the pairs (ponies) class with a score just under 50 penalty points. France’s Jean Frederic Selle holds second place, followed by Germany’s Birgit Kohl Weiss in third.
In the four-in-hand pony class, Hendrik-Jan Beekhuisen takes the lead, ahead of Belgium’s Thomas Van Dijck.
Friday
Tomorrow, it will be the turn of the 2* and 3* single pony classes, the Four-in-Hand (horses), and the remaining 2* classes.
