The budget of a driving competition: Why is it becoming increasingly difficult to make the numbers add up?
Koopmans decided to make Exloo’s budget public and start a discussion: where does all the money go, what could be done differently and how can we keep the sport affordable – for organisers as well as drivers?
Despite entry fees having risen in recent years, organising competitions does not generate a profit for organisers either. For this article, in addition to Lieuwe Koopmans himself, we spoke to national coach Ad Aarts, driver Bram Chardon and KNHS Sports Manager Justus Valk. Each helped shed light on the issue from a different perspective.
