World Championship Young Horses in Kisbér: Double gold for Weronika Kwiatek, Kathrin Karosser World Champion among seven-year-olds
On the final day of the FEI Driving World Championship for Young Horses in Kisbér-Ászár, Hungary, the final round of Dressage and Cones took place today. Poland’s Weronika Kwiatek, an experienced competitor at the World Championship for Young Driving Horses, was crowned World Champion in no fewer than two age categories.
Yesterday, the first overall standings were established following the combined marathon. Kwiatek was leading both the five- and six-year-old categories and did not relinquish those positions. Today, she produced excellent performances in dressage and cones with both gelding Rocco (five years old, Cizandro x Uzindra) and mare Proud Walda (six years old, Lanto HBC x Aron HBC), convincingly winning both classes.
With Rocco, she achieved a total score of 25.74 points, while Proud Walda scored an impressive 27.41 points. Weronika Kwiatek is therefore the undisputed World Champion in both categories. Even more impressive is the fact that Weronika and Proud Walda already won the bronze medal together in the five-year-old category in 2025!
Among the five-year-old driving horses, Denmark’s Henrik Hoeper retained his second place in the standings by also finishing second today, taking silver with 24.69 points. Austria’s Marisa Rössler claimed bronze with 20.54 points.
In the six-year-old category, Norway’s Maria Henriksson, also driving an offspring of Lanto HBC, moved up one podium position to take silver with 23.88 points. She moved ahead of Hungary’s Martin Makoviczki, who was unable to match his earlier performance in today’s dressage and cones. Bronze went to Austria’s Sylvia Peters with the mare Capucchina on 22.68 points.
Kathrin Karosser wins seven-year-old title, surprise silver for Mirko Cassotti
Germany’s Kathrin Karosser was in second place after the first day, behind Bartlomiej Kwiatek with Eldin. Kathrin did not win today’s dressage and cones with her mare DSP Daria OT (Armani x Sacre Coeur 21) either, finishing behind Italy’s Mirko Cassotti. However, her performance in the combined marathon had been considerably stronger. The German had enough of an advantage to secure the World Championship title with 25.94 points.
Mirko Cassotti and KWPN gelding Oxbow (Governor x Acorette) made a huge leap up the standings by winning the dressage and cones, earning an impressive silver medal at this World Championship. In doing so, he pushed Bartlomiej Kwiatek down to third place.
Like his sister, Bartlomiej is an experienced competitor at the World Championship for Young Driving Horses. He finished third with Eldin (Ellington x Edelman) on 24.54 points and fourth with Hunder (Beskid x Huzar) on 22.68 points.
