CAI & Dutch Championships Harich-Gaasterland: All Horses Passed Horse Inspection

Sport

The horse inspection for the CAI Harich-Gaasterland and the Dutch Driving Championships was completed successfully on Wednesday afternoon. All horses passed the veterinary inspection and are therefore cleared to compete in the international event, as well as the Dutch Championships for single and pair horses and single, pair and four-in-hand ponies.

Despite the high temperatures, the competition will go ahead as planned. Over the past few days, the organising committee has taken additional measures to safeguard the welfare of both horses and competitors. The dressage schedule for Thursday and Friday has been adjusted, with an extra dressage arena set up on grass. As a result, dressage will finish at least by 12:00 noon each day. A large team of officials will closely monitor the welfare of the horses throughout the event.

For Saturday’s marathon, several additional cooling stations will be available along the course. Further measures may be introduced if necessary, and competitors will be informed through the official WhatsApp group.

Temperatures are expected to be slightly lower on Sunday, when the event concludes with the cones competition. At the end of the day, the winners of the international competition and the new Dutch Champions will be crowned.

Despite the warm weather, the organisers are looking forward to an excellent weekend of sport and ask both competitors and spectators to take the weather conditions into account. With every horse declared fit to compete, the battle for the international titles and the Dutch Championships officially gets underway today.
