No driving competition in Donaueschingen this year either
Around one month before last summer’s international driving competition in Donaueschingen was due to take place, it was announced that the event had been cancelled. Hoefnet published an article about the cancellation, speaking to the event directors of the driving competition, who expressed their hope that driving would return to Donaueschingen in 2026. It has now become clear that this will not be the case.
A press release announced that Schafhof Connects, the professional organisation behind the event, will no longer organise the entire competition from 2026 onwards. CHI Donaueschingen therefore explored the possibility of organising the event in-house, but concluded that it did not have the necessary financial resources or staffing capacity.
CHI Donaueschingen hopes that a professional organiser can be found to enable the competition to return in 2027.
Disappointed
Hoefnet also spoke to Bettina Rigbers-Böhnisch and Jennifer Küpfer, the event directors of the driving competition.
“We are very disappointed that there will be no equestrian sport in Donaueschingen in 2026. We had several plans on the table for driving and had plenty of options in that respect. We, as well as the people at CHI Donaueschingen, are open to professional organisations that would like to help us organise this fantastic event. We hope there will be many more editions to add to its history!”
